Concept

Tan delta testing evaluates dielectric losses in insulation by measuring the phase angle between applied voltage and resulting current. A healthy insulation behaves capacitively, while deterioration introduces resistive losses.

Purpose

  • Detection of insulation aging and thermal degradation
  • Identification of moisture ingress and contamination
  • Assessment of insulation condition in medium voltage machines

Application of Our Facility and Equipment

Using the DELTA4000 series 12 kV test system, we perform accurate power factor and tan delta measurements on stator windings, enabling condition-based evaluation and trending.
